When walking by 16th street, by Meridian Hill Park , one might hear a sound, a sound of drums man rhythm .The sound might give you the feeling of those stereotypical tribal ceremonies, a bunch of tribal folks gathered around a bon fire, doing some bizarre dancing. Yes! That is exactly what you will find when you walk into the park, well except the bonfire. According to the Washington post, the drum circle is said to have officially started the week of the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. First starting as a spiritual revival and black culture and self awareness the circle has since evolved into a multi racial and cultural gathering and been doing it for 50 years every summer Sunday afternoon.
